Late May

Visit Meerkerk Gardens and let the world around you melt away! Focus in close to the blooms — notice the variety of shapes, the vibrant colors, the freckles, the flares, the patterns on the leaves and the buds. Listen in to the constant humming of the bees and the bird songs. Breathe in the heavenly scents of the brilliant azaleas, the R. ‘Loderi King George’ and other floral scents of the gardens. Wander the trails, bring a picnic, and visit our specialty plant nursery to take home a colorful memory of your visit to Meerkerk Gardens!

Early May

It’s a rainbow of colors at the peak of our bloom season! May is the prime month for rhododendron and azalea season. Each week another burst of blooms brings this stunning garden to a new place! Make sure to take the woodland trail by the ponds and up the Big Leaf Valley. One of our favorite azaleas — R. ‘Golden Comet’ is blooming by the forest edge of the middle pond. When the sun shines on it the reflection lights up the pond in gold. It delights the senses with its large, highly fragrant, deep yellow flowers that attract hummingbirds and bees.

 April Blooms

The cool and wet April has left us with most of the April blooming plants and trees still going strong. Now, as we turn the corner into May and the peak of our bloom season, we are experiencing exceptional layers of blooming varieties not usually all seen at the same time.  The layer of color, patterns, and textures are amazing!
